On October 23, Laundry Land hosted a LaundryCares-sponsored free laundry day, which was held in conjunction with the Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation. This event – which ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – processed 1,080 pounds of laundry, mainly for those at local women’s shelters, senior centers and other at-need facilities in the area.

Laundry Land had four staff members on hand to help with the washing, drying and folding, as well as providing soap, softener and laundry bags.

“It was a very successful event,” said Laundry Land owner Michael Finkelstein. “We washed a lot of clothes. We helped the community, and the VBCDC was very appreciative. We donated our manpower, our time and our laundry. And it was a good event.

“I’m always happy to do it,” Finkelstein added. “It helps the area. The neighbors appreciate it. And it makes us feel good that we’re giving back to the community. All in all, the event was very well received, and I think we can build on it in the future.”
