Failure to address routine maintenance issues on dryers can significantly increase operating costs and, in the case of coin laundries, can result in customer dissatisfaction and loss of business.<\/p>\n Establish a Routine A preventive maintenance routine will help keep your machinery operating reliably and at peak efficiency, improving profitability and reducing the potential for serious and costly problems. Here’s an easy-to-follow commercial dryer preventive maintenance schedule that should help your machines stay in tiptop shape:<\/p>\n Every Day:<\/p>\n <\/strong> \u2022 Clean the door gaskets and mating surfaces with a damp clean cloth.<\/p>\n \u2022 Confirm that the door gaskets are correctly in place.<\/p>\n Weekly: \u2022 Check makeup air inlets. Remove dirt, leaves and any debris blocking openings.<\/p>\n \u2022 Clean back panel grilles and louvers.<\/p>\n \u2022 Clean dryer service area \u2013 should be free of floor dust, lint on pipes and cables, and other combustible material.<\/p>\n Monthly: \u2022 TURN OFF POWER TO THE MACHINE BEFORE PERFORMING THESE CHECKS.<\/p>\n \u2022 Open control compartment door.<\/p>\n \u2022 Check coin meters and remove any accumulated lint.<\/p>\n \u2022 Remove the rear panel and inspect all internal grates. Clean as necessary.<\/p>\n \u2022 Clean motor covers, motor cooling fins and motor cooling fans.<\/p>\n \u2022 TURN OFF POWER TO THE MACHINE BEFORE PERFORMING THESE CHECKS.<\/p>\n \u2022 Remove the back panel of the machine and open the control compartment door.<\/p>\n \u2022 Clean accumulated lint from control components and compartments.<\/p>\n \u2022 Inspect wiring for damaged conductors and loose connections, and repair as needed.<\/p>\n Semi-Annually:<\/p>\n <\/strong> \u2022 Remove the back panel. Dismount fan assembly and inspect fan blades for lint accumulation. Clean as required.<\/p>\n \u2022 Inspect drive belts for dryness or cracking. Replace as necessary.<\/p>\n \u2022 Inspect the motor wiring harness and connectors for discoloration or signs of burning. These can be evidence of over-current conditions.<\/p>\n \u2022 Where applicable inspect motor capacitors for signs of leakage. Replace as required.<\/p>\n \u2022 Inspect exhaust ductwork for holes or loose joints.<\/p>\n \u2022 Inspect exhaust ducts for blockage. Replace as required.<\/p>\n \u2022 If applicable, check front support roller bearings for wear. Replace if necessary.<\/p>\n \u2022 Check that there is no clearance movement in the drum bearings, there is no sign of the drum rubbing against the front panel and that felt seals are not worn.
