ASAE has honored the Coin Laundry Association’s LaundryCares Foundation with a 2020 Summit Award, which is the highest recognition under The Power of A awards program.

“On behalf of everyone at the Coin Laundry Association and the LaundryCares Foundation, I would like to thank ASAE and the Power of A for recognizing the work of the CLA and its LaundryCares Foundation,” said CLA President and CEO Brian Wallace. “The Summit Award is ASAE’s highest honor, and we are both excited and humbled to be among the handful of associations receiving this award in 2020.”

These prestigious awards are part of an overall Power of A campaign, which brings attention to the association community’s valuable contributions to society at the local, national and global levels. Since its formation in 2009, The Power of A has become an industrywide brand, messaging platform and rally cry for associations to communicate their value to outside audiences. The long-term goal of The Power of A is to ensure a deeper understanding of what associations do, not just for the industries and professions they represent, but to improve society and the quality of life.

“LaundryCares began with a general notion of giving back to the neighborhoods that support our laundromat businesses,” explained LaundryCares President Jeff Gardner. “Through the hard work of tremendous volunteers, a dedicated staff and loyal customers around the country, LaundryCares has grown into a real force for connecting families in need with the laundry and literacy resources they require most.”

“The Summit Award serves as motivation for all of us to extend the reach and impact of the LaundryCares Foundation in the years to come,” added LaundryCares Executive Vice President Dan Naumann.

This year’s award winners were selected by the Power of A Awards Judging Committee, which received a total of 125 entries. These included entries in five new award categories: The Power of Advocacy, The Power of Industry/Professional Advancement, The Power of Global Development, The Power of Diversity and Inclusion, and The Power of Community Support and Engagement.

“Congratulations to the Coin Laundry Association on being named among the very best organizations that go above and beyond their tax-exempt purpose to improve society and our quality of life in America and abroad,” said ASAE President and CEO Susan Robertson, CAE. “This has been a very trying year for associations, but even amid a months-long pandemic, associations are proving that positive change can happen. More than ever, the Power of Associations is on full display in this year’s award-winning programs, providing tangible evidence that associations will help lead the way toward economic and societal recovery in the months ahead.”

Other 2020 Summit Award winners include: The American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, D.C.; The American Geophysical Union, Washington, D.C.; The American Public Power Association, Arlington, Va.; The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, Fairfield, N.J.; and The National Association for the Education of Young Children, Washington, D.C.

In addition to the Summit Award recipients, 21 associations earned Gold Awards, and 39 organizations received Silver Awards. Winners’ information can be found at www.thepowerofa.org/awards.

The ASAE Summit Awards reception will take place virtually on September 30, which also will serve as the culmination of ASAE’s overall centennial celebration. Tickets will be complimentary. For details, contact: [email protected].
