Venture-backed technology company Cents has acquired Starchup, a provider of pickup and delivery, POS and drycleaning software.
Through this acquisition, Cents stated it will be able to bolster its existing pickup and delivery platform by adding functionality and further investing in new tools and features to help laundromat owners and drycleaning operators grow their businesses.
“We have loved supporting hundreds of operators with a focus on growing and optimizing their online order and delivery management,” said Nick Chapleau, CEO of Starchup. “The entire Starchup team is thrilled to bring our best-in-class delivery products to Cents to support and empower thousands of operators across the country. We’ve seen a lot of companies enter into the tech space in our industry, but I’ve never had such confidence in a product and team as I do in Cents.”
While Cents has driven pickup and delivery innovation through on-demand and gig-based delivery integrations, this acquisition furthers the company’s commitment to providing “the most robust delivery system for pickup and delivery operators who have invested in their own fleets of vans and drivers,” according to Cents.
This acquisition coincides with the formal launch of Cents Dispatch, a suite of pickup and deliver products and integrations developed through the consolidation of Starchup’s PUD platform with the product Cents has developed for gig economy pickup and delivery.
In addition, Chapleau will join Cents as the head of Cents Dispatch, responsible for the continued education, development and advancement of the product.
“It’s always been important for me to find the best tools to run my business,” explained Paul Hansen of Su Nueva Lavanderia in Chicago. “I chose Starchup because it had an incredibly powerful delivery platform, and it was a no-brainer to add Cents to power my POS and in-store operations. With Starchup joining Cents, I’m excited to have the best of both worlds all in one place.”
“At Cents, we are committed to investing in innovating products and features that will enable our customers to run their businesses at the highest level,” said Alexander Jekowsky, CEO of Cents. “From hardware to software, POS to payroll, laundry and drycleaning, it’s our mission to create the best all-in-one platform.
“We are so excited to be acquiring Starchup in order to deepen our expertise and product offering of pickup and delivery management tools for operators managing their own vehicles, mobile order experiences and more.”
