Tod Sorensen has been named vice president of Continental Girbau West, a Continental Girbau subsidiary distributorship based in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. Sorensen – a laundry industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience related to distribution; management; and on-premise, industrial, route and vended laundry development – will work to broaden the presence of CG West within southern California laundry markets.
Sorensen, who will relocate from Neenah, Wis., has served the past five years as Continental regional sales manager, Western U.S. and Canada – and he will continue in that role as well.
“Tod has done an excellent job supporting our distribution network and customers,” said Joel Jorgensen, Continental vice president of sales and customer services. “Much of his experience is at the distributor level in route, on-premise and vended laundries, but Tod also has managed distributorships throughout the western U.S. He knows a good deal about the southern California market and brings applicable management experience to his new position.”
Sorensen said he looks forward to his new role and the challenges it brings.
“Together with the CG West team, I hope to work more closely with our customers and the local Coin Laundry Association,” he said.
Additionally, Sorensen will work to strengthen CG West vended and on-premise laundry service schools and grow the company’s annual vended laundry Profit Symposium, an event that showcases laundry equipment and technology innovations, educational seminars and industry speakers.
“We want to continue to educate our vended laundry customers on the marketing, equipment and merchandising trends that most impact store profits and operating costs,” he said.
During his career, Sorensen served seven years as a sales representative/district trainer for Schering-Plough Corp., a pharmaceutical company headquartered in Kenilworth, N.J. In addition, he has 16 years of experience with a variety of laundry industry companies, including Hughes Enterprises in Lombard, Ill., Coin-O-Matic Equipment in Alsip, Ill., and Coinmach Corp. in Hayward, Calif. At each company, Sorensen handled aspects of sales and marketing, including distribution management. He also has extensive experience in the planning, construction and engineering of vended laundries.
