More than 50 people representing nine nationalities recently participated in a free, eight-week virtual financial education session, which was led by Qualitas of Life, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving Hispanic family financial security.
On December 10, Clean Rite Centers – a co-sponsor of the financial literacy initiative – held a graduation ceremony for those participants at the company’s laundromat location in Queens, N.Y.
Each financial education participant received a $50 Clean Rite laundry card, in recognition of their accomplishment.
The educational sessions covered such topics as online banking, opening bank accounts, and protecting finances to foster financial stability, according to Qualitas of Life Research and Evaluation Manager Soco Hernández-Serrano.
“Twenty-seven participants graduated and received a certificate of completion,” she said, “while 28 received a certificate of participation for attending at least one course session.”
