Westmoreland Express Laundry Center – a Dallas-based vended laundry, owned by Ed Brown Distributors – recently provided free laundry services to Hurricane Harvey evacuees who were housed in shelters in Dallas. The laundromat worked with Proctor & Gamble’s Tide Loads of Hope initiative to help area residents who were impacted by Harvey.
Several washers and dryers in the self-service laundry were available for use and free to Hurricane Harvey evacuees, according to Ed Blair, general manager at Ed Brown Distributors. In addition, Tide Loads of Hope workers picked up laundry at area shelters and brought it to the store – where it was washed, dried and folded.
“The next day, the laundry was returned to the shelters,” Blair explained. “We wanted to offer free laundry service in conjunction with Tide Loads of Hope to help out the people in the hard-hit community.”
Since Hurricane Katrina, the Tide Loads of Hope program has provided clean laundry in its community program for families in the midst of chaos. Tide believes in the power of clean, and for those going through times of crisis, clean clothes can make a difference.
