This year marks the 50th anniversary for Darling’s Sales & Service Co., a full-service vended and on-premise laundry equipment distributor in Blaine, Minn.
“I started the business by doing service work out of my garage,” said company founder Ralph Darling. “I decided at a young age that I would start my own business, and I never gave up on that dream. Over the years, the business grew and grew.”
Family owned and operated by Ralph, his wife Nancy and his son Brad, Darling’s Sales & Service is committed to providing quality equipment and excellent service to its customers.
“In the early years, I had to beg for a line of equipment to sell,” Darling explained. “There were so many distributors in our area back then. Now, there are only four. I feel that we sell the best equipment there is.”
Today, Darling’s Sales & Service occupies a 15,000-square-foot facility where dedicated employees contribute to a culture focused on exceeding customer expectations. Darling’s was one of the first distributors in the industry to partner with Continental Girbau Inc. in 1995. Since then, Darling’s Sales & Service Co. has earned 10 Continental On-Premise Laundry Distributor of the Year awards, installed 2,800 55-pound-capacity Continental soft-mount washers, and helped Continental with new product testing and introductions.
Darling’s team has installed equipment at a variety of sites over the years, including fitness centers, hotels, nursing homes, car washes, hospitals, government facilities, fire departments and dairy farms. The company’s success is a result of hard work, great employees and word of mouth.
“I’ve retained many of my customers for more than 40 years,” Darling noted.
