NortherCaliforniaFreeLaundryDay.jpgThree northern California laundry owners have teamed up with equipment manufacturer Dexter Laundry and its local distributor, Western State Design, to raise funds and sponsor a free laundry day on October 30, 2017, for those who were impacted by the area’s recent wildfires.

The scale of destruction caused by the wildfires in California’s wine country is heartbreaking. The fires’ death toll is rising, and many local residents are still missing. Thousands of people have been left homeless as the fires raged out of control through their neighborhoods.

Area residents and business owners fortunate enough to have escaped the fires’ deadly rampage are anxious to assist their fellow community members – and three local laundromat owners have figured out a way to help. In partnership with their local laundry equipment suppliers, they will hold a free laundry event on October 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Community members are welcome to do their laundry free of charge at each of these three laundries, located in areas affected by the wildfires:

Mi Familia Lavanderia

In addition to sponsoring the free laundry day, Western State Design and Dexter Laundry have set up a matching relief fund for others to donate money to aid the fire victims. Together, WSD and Dexter will match the first $6,000 in tax-deductible donations to the fund, administered by the Coin Laundry Association’s LaundryCares Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. To donate to help fire victims, go to www.laundrycares.org/somona17.

Even for area residents whose homes or property weren’t directly destroyed by the deadly fires, the smell of smoke is everywhere and has permeated clothing, bedding and other possessions. People are in dire need of clean laundry – being able to use nearby large-capacity commercial washers and dryers free of charge for a day might just bring a tiny bit of relief.
