Hercules Corp., headquartered in Hicksville, N.Y., has announced that it has merged with Birchwood Coin-Op Laundries Inc., based in Whitestone, N.Y. The combined companies will go forward together under the Hercules Corp. banner.
A family-owned business since 1979, Birchwood Coin-Op Laundries – owned by Michael Madison – operates throughout the five boroughs of New York City, as well as in Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and New Jersey.
“This is a very exciting event for both companies, for our employees and for our customers,” said Adam May, vice president of business development for Hercules and a grandson of company founder Alfred May. “Our greatest assets have always been our people, and by joining forces, we have just made a huge increase in the quality of that asset.”
According to Hercules, the merger will create a more comprehensive infrastructure with faster response times, which will allow the company to provide a wider array of services, enhanced technology and deep expertise to all of its customers.
“We hold similar values and philosophies on doing business: produce an excellent job for our customers; an emphasis on trust, honesty and integrity; and a commitment, shared by three generations within the May family, of superior customer service,” May added.
“We chose Hercules based on the passion it has continually shown for its customers and employees,” Madison explained. “We feel our customers will benefit greatly from Hercules’ knowledge of the multi-housing and on-premises markets throughout the Northeast.”
Hercules Corp. is a family-operated business that was established in 1959.
