Industry Veteran Becomes a First-Time Store Owner

The new Pepper’s Express Laundry Center recently opened for business in Mooresville, Ind. – with a familiar name in a not-so-familiar role.The 4,800-square-foot vended laundry is designed to enhance and quicken the laundry process, according to the owners Jim and Pepper McNutt.Although this is his first laundromat, Jim McNutt has served the laundry industry for years as a former member and chairman of the Coin Laundry Association‘s Board of Directors – as well as the president of Standard Change-Makers, a designer of currency change machines and payment kiosks based in Indianapolis. Jim’s wife, Pepper, for whom the laundromat is named, manages the couple’s new business venture.” Throughout my career, I’ve come to know the laundry industry well, but as an owner, it’s new to us,” said Jim McNutt. “To best serve our community, we decided to outfit Pepper’s with advanced equipment and systems that allow our customers to complete their laundry in less than 60 minutes. And these days, our time is valuable!” The laundry features high-speed Continental ExpressWash washers from 20 to 90 pounds in capacity. In addition, the 90-pounders feature automatic detergent and softener injection. And all of the washers automatically inject ozone gas into the wash cycle via the San-O3-tyzer water treatment system, which works to kill 99.9 percent of bacteria, effectively sanitizing the wash, according to Jim.The store also offers a wash-dry-fold service. “Customers can drop off laundry in the morning and pick it up – washed, dried, folded and packaged – that evening,” Pepper explained. “We wash and fold all laundry according to our customers’ unique wishes.” Additionally, the McNutts plan for Pepper’s to serve as a drop-off and pickup site for drycleaning and shirt laundry processing as well. Among other perks, the laundromat offers free Wi-Fi access, flat-screen televisions and a children’s play area.” Our fully attended laundry is spacious, bright, efficient and clean,” Jim said. “My wife and I are really excited to bring Pepper’s Express Laundry Center to our community.”
