The Coin Laundry Association‘s LaundryCares Foundation and more than 70 volunteers visited Laundry Depot 5th Avenue on August 31 for the largest Free Laundry Day ever held. The nearly 10,000-square-foot self-service laundry in Bay Shore, N.Y., hosted this unprecedented event, during which the foundation gave back to the local community with free laundry, food and drink, kids’ activities, entertainment and educational resources for all.

In all, nearly 19,000 pounds of free laundry was processed during the four-hour session to the benefit of hundreds of local families, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation to all of the LaundryCares volunteers on hand. Each family walked away with a gift bag packed with goodies, including two free children’s books from the Wash Time is Talk Time: Early Childhood Literacy Promotion in Laundromats initiative, which was announced by LaundryCares earlier this year.
