The LaundryCares Foundation has announced a collaborative initiative with the Supermatt Laundry location in Kissimmee, Fla., to bring free laundry services to the neighborhood, as well as to help bridge the literacy gap within the community.
On November 8, Supermatt Laundry in Kissimmee will host a Free Laundry and Literacy Day. From 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., attendees will receive complimentary laundry services, refreshments, and fun activities for both children and adults. There is no limit to the amount of clothing and linens that can be brought in for free washing and drying.
Additionally, throughout the afternoon, children will have the opportunity to participate in reading activities. The LaundryCares Foundation also will provide customers with access to a free digital library through Worldreader, kicking off a reading initiative that enables kids to read books and take part in learning activities directly from their family’s phones.
Moreover, LaundryCares’ Read, Play & Learn spaces, established in many laundromats nationwide, provide child-friendly and comfortable learning environments that promote school readiness – an essential need often unmet in historically minoritized or marginalized communities. These impactful programs are made possible through the collaborative efforts of U.S. AutoForce, a U.S. Venture company; the LaundryCares Foundation; and Clinton Foundation early learning initiative Too Small to Fail.
