As the vended laundry industry continues to draw entrepreneurs, increasingly, these new business owners and investors are women. With that in mind, Jodi Way, territory sales representative at Martin-Ray Laundry Systems, a Denver-based Speed Queen distributor, organized a first-ever get together for women involved in the vended laundry business.
The event, which included a lunch, keynote speaker and networking opportunities, attracted 16 attendees – from those already in the business to those planning to open laundromats. It was held in March at Piatti Restaurant in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood.
“It’s exciting to have created a venue for women in laundry in the Denver area to get together and discuss challenges we face in the industry,” Way said, adding that feedback from the group was positive and that there is a desire to set up similar events on a regular basis.
The featured speaker was Coin Laundry Association President and CEO Brian Wallace, who discussed 2018 laundry trends, as well as taking part in a question-and-answer session following his talk.
“We had a great speaker, good conversations and are looking forward to continuing to meet as a group and learn from one another,” Way said.
Plans call for the group to gather again in September. To learn more about the women in coin laundry group and to join the mailing list for upcoming events, contact Way at [email protected].
