The first day of Clean 2017 in Las Vegas wrapped up with a jam-packed presentation by digital marketing expert Bonnie Hanson of The Laundry Doctor, based in St. Paul, Minn.
Approximately 450 people attended this educational session, which was held in the exhibition hall, giving laundry owners the opportunity to attend without having to stray too far from the trade show floor.
And the topic was one that is on many store operators’ minds these days — online marketing… more specifically, how to promote a laundry business on Facebook.
Hanson began her presentation by explaining why Facebook is the place store owners need to be getting out the word about their businesses.
“Facebook has 1.94 billion users, and 79 percent of all U.S. adults on the internet are on Facebook,” she noted. “In addition, 50 percent of users log in daily, spending about 700 billion minute per month on Facebook. It leads the social media landscape.”
She pointed out three keys laundry owners need to keep in mind when utilizing Facebook to promote their businesses — (1) use an appropriate and professional tone in your postings, (2) engage your audience and (3) offer some sort of value.
Hanson’s presentation also included a discussion of the Facebook marketing options from which owners could choose. They include: posting free organic content, boosting a post and Facebook advertising — all three of which were outlined in detail.
What’s more, this session featured a helpful “top 10” list of ways operators could best leverage their Facebook pages. These included:
- Complete the “About” page.
- Get your page verified.
- Invite your email list.
- Size your graphics properly.
- Use video.
- Write great copy.
- Use Facebook Insights
- Boost your content
- Know the algorithm
- Post regularly
Above all, Hanson stressed to the audience that Facebook is personal.
“It’s about getting people to want to hang out with you, not selling them something,” she said. “The key to getting started is taking the first step and beginning a conversation. Talk to people about Facebook. This is a great industry. The people in it are so collaborative. That’s why you’re here at the Clean Show. Talk to them.”
