Laundry and drycleaning service Rinse recently acquired its New York-based competitor, FlyCleaners, and has launched in New York City.
Founded by Ajay Prakash, James Joun and Sam Cheng, the San Francisco-based startup said it will expand its laundry pickup-and-delivery services to Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx. Established in 2013, Rinse also operates in the San Francisco Bay area, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Chicago and Boston.
Although the company didn’t provide terms of its purchase, it noted that FlyCleaners customers will be seamlessly redirected to the Rinse website or mobile app to schedule service seven days a week. Also, customers will have the option to use additional services beyond wash-dry-fold and drycleaning – including hang dry and clothing repairs. Rinse also offers its Rinse Repeat laundry subscription service, priced by the bag rather than the pound.
Moreover, Rinse provides its service to property managers and apartment buildings via its Rinse for Rentals program, and it offers a Rinse for Business service for local employers who want to offer laundry and drycleaning services for employees.
Rinse added that it anticipates the online laundry service industry growing to $96 billion by 2024.
