Procter & Gamble Announces New ‘Wind Farm’ for Fabric, Home Care Brands

Procter & Gamble has announced plans to meet its electricity demands by using 100 percent wind power to produce its Fabric & Home Care brands, including Tide and Dawn.

In partnership with EDF Renewable Energy, P&G will develop a new Texas-based wind farm, which will generate 370,000 megawatts of electricity per year. This wind farm is scheduled to be fully operational in December 2016, according to the company.

The partnership was announced at the White House last month, as P&G became a signatory of the American Business Act on Climate Pledge. As part of that pledge, P&G agreed to achieve 30 percent renewable energy to power its plants globally by 2020, with a long-term vision to use 100 percent renewable energy.

In September, P&G committed to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2020.
