The Coin Laundry Association is celebrating a “Month of Thanks” in November to show its appreciation for its members and the industry. The CLA is thankful for the volunteers, donors and other literacy organizations that helped to make the LaundryCares Foundation a success. The mission of LaundryCares is to enrich the communities of our members through programming that addresses unmet needs of laundry customers. These goals could not have been met without the efforts of our supporters.

The CLA would like to personally recognize the following people and companies for the significant amount of time and resources that they have given to the LCF:

  • Jim Whitmore, owner of Sunshine Express Laundry Center in Gloucester, Mass., and the incoming Chair of the LCF Board, secured a monthly donation of books to be given to the families at his store.
  • CLA members in 30 states have placed Family Read, Play & Learn spaces in their stores, which provide an opportunity for children to engage in literacy-rich activities while their families do laundry. These spaces include a couch, bookcase filled with books, puppets, magnetic alphabet boards and family tip sheets.
  • Alaa El-Banna, owner of Bubbles aRe Us, hosted the first-ever triple-store Free Laundry Day for the LaundryCares Foundation in his three stores in Elizabeth, N.J. More than 350 families were registered with more than 800 people being served in total. Plus, more than 42,000 pounds of laundry were washed and dried. Currently with the COVID restrictions, Alaa is streaming story programming in partnership with the Elizabeth Public Library.
  • Alliance Laundry Systems, Girbau North America, Dexter Laundry and Laundrylux were recognized as Signature Sponsors of the LaundryCares Foundation for their contributions throughout the years to support the mission. Their contributions supported several Free Laundry Day events and the launch of many Family Read, Play & Learn spaces in laundromats, of which nearly all the companies have one installed in their own corporate offices.

The LaundryCares Foundation invites you to join our growing list of laundries whose owners are making a positive impact in their communities. Sign up to be part of the LaundryCares Foundation Network and make a difference in your community.
