After decades of representing the Southwest Drycleaners Association (SDA) with its iconic cowboy hat logo, the Board of Directors voted to adopt a new logo marking the beginning of a new era for the association.

The logo redesign process began last fall with an open competition that generated 38 submissions. “We were thrilled with the creativity and enthusiasm from our community,” said John Rothrock, Chairman of the SDA Logo Committee. “Entries came from a variety of sources, including dry cleaners, their family members, graphic artists, and even a talented high school student. After much discussion, we chose a fresh, clean design that reflects both our association’s identity and the industry we proudly represent.”

According to SDA President Fran Stone-Beale, SDA added the tagline ‘Connecting Cleaners’ to reinforce the focus of the association. “We are committed to uniting dry cleaners in our association, building relationships and providing resources through these connections,”  Stone-Beale said.

Maria Teresa Ribera, a commercial engineer with EVOLVE specializing in international marketing submitted the winning entry. I have always had a strong passion for business and a deep commitment to creating brands with a solid identity—brands capable of making a significant impact and achieving strategic market positioning,” Ribera said.

The Logo Committee spent months collaborating over Zoom meetings to decide on the new identity. The committee was led by John Rothrock and included members Raymond Farrell, Jess Culpepper, Lauren VanCamp, Fran Stone-Beale, Jose Abuawad, and Jeff Schwarz.

This new logo represents the SDA’s forward-looking vision while honoring its rich history in the dry cleaning community.  With its contemporary design, the logo is poised to make a lasting impression as the SDA continues to grow and evolve.
