Aaxon Laundry Systems, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is celebrating a special anniversary this year for Senior Vice President Edward Smith, who has been with the company for 22 years. Prior to joining Aaxon, Smith operated his own successful distributorship, which provided commercial equipment to the vended laundry and OPL segments.
Boasting an overall 40 years of industry experience, Smith has become an expert on laundromat site selection, design and lease negotiation, according to Aaxon. He builds laundry projects with investors from the ground up and also advises existing store owners on how to finance their new equipment purchases and grow their businesses. In addition, Smith manages the company’s sales team – overseeing the flow of contracts and installations in Aaxon’s multi-housing division, as well as being involved in daily internal operations.
“We all share the same big-picture goals,” said Smith, when asked what he enjoys most about working for Aaxon. “There’s an incredible sense of comradery here – everyone has a high esprit de corps.”
Smith is passionate not only about his role in the business, but also within the community. In fact, he has served as the chairman and director of the North Miami Beach Optimist Club’s Special Olympics for more than 30 years.
“The time and effort he has spent with the Special Olympics has been an inspiration for all of us,” said Aaxon CEO Frank D’Annunzio.
Smith explained that he’s especially looking forward to the free service schools the company holds throughout the year.
“I’m hoping attendees will walk away confident in tackling minor equipment repairs on their own,” Smith noted. “Aaxon’s ultimate goal is to help laundry owners be self-sufficient, profitable and proficient.”
