American Dryer Corp.
American Dryer Corp. has introduced its new EcoWash washer/extractors. These performance hybrid machines combine low-water usage and a high-speed extract. ADC’s 200-G Rapid Spin and 350-G High Spin washers provide efficient wash cycles while also reducing dry times by as much as 15 percent with high-speed extract, according to the company. Saving water on the wash cycle and time on the dry cycle allows your laundry to operate more efficiently, increasing turns and lowering utilities to improve revenue.
In addition, EcoWash is simple to use, featuring Intuitive Micro Controls (IMC), the company’s programmable microprocessor that is easily customizable. You can simplify existing programs, and modify or delete the times of each phase of the cycle, as well as modify the water level to achieve greater savings in your laundromat. Also, multi-vend pricing capability and extended cycle options are featured
Card Concepts Inc.
Card Concepts Inc. has announced the immediate availability of its latest technology, FasCard – a hybrid coin/card system providing store owners and customers with premium features and functionality backed by CCI’s support team. FasCard allows almost any coin-vended washer, dryer or vending machine to also accept major credit and debit cards, without removing the machines native coin acceptance. The hardware behind FasCard is easy to install and manage, and the FasCard reader was designed specifically for laundromat applications and utilizes WiFi wireless technology to eliminate any hardwiring.
The large backlit display presents instructions and information, and the three-button keypad make FasCard simple to use. The system requires no on-site computers and only a basic Internet connection. What’s more, all of the system’s features and reports can be accesses live from almost any Internet connection.
FasCard also allows store owners to choose their own credit card processor, giving them the option to shop for the best possible rates. This system also features time-of-day pricing and native multi-vend support. And there is no minimum order, enabling store owners to start with their largest machines, adding more as needed.
Continental Girbau
Continental Girbau provided laundry owners with washer-extractors that are engineered to efficiently serve both self-service and commercial accounts. Through the programmability of Continental ExpressWash, MG-Series and M-Series Washers, store owners can control and program G-force extract, automatic chemical injection, wash temperature by degree, water levels and wash, rinse and extract time.
“Most other washers on the market don’t have Continental’s programming flexibility,” said Joel Jorgensen, vice president of sales and customer service at Continental Girbau. “Many don’t offer automatic chemical injection and programmable wash temperatures by degree. These are critical features when washers are used to clean an array of commercial account items, such as table cloths, moving blankets, towels, sheets and napkins.”
In addition, Continental ExpressWash, MG-Series and M-Series Washers – available in 20- to 90-pound capacities – deliver durability and efficiency. They also produce higher extract speeds when compared to many hard-mount washers on the market, according to Jorgensen. Thanks to higher extract speeds, Continental washers remove more water from every load, cutting dry time significantly and bolstering productivity.
Continental’s equipment lineup also includes dryers, ironers, feeders and folders that will accommodate a growing commercial laundry business.

Eastern Funding is a subsidiary of Brookline Bancorp.
Electrolux Professional Laundry
Electrolux washers and dryers provide a number of unique money-, water- and energy-saving features. They include:
Automatic Weighing System, which enables the washers to save as much as 30 percent of the water on small wash loads. AWS automatically calculates the actual weight of the load and then adds precisely the right amount of water, reducing water consumption and energy costs.
EcoPower, which can save laundry owners up to 15 percent on energy costs. EcoPower determines when garments are dry and then automatically lowers the dryer temperature. Since the dryer keeps turning, there’s less wrinkling and wear on garments.
Reversing Dryer Cylinders so that garments don’t tangle and, therefore, dry more quickly, using less energy.
SuperBalance, which maximizes extraction force, regardless of load size or composition. The system detects load imbalances and automatically compensates, finishing the cycle.
High Spin 350-G Washers. Electrolux soft-mount washers minimize drying time and provide impressive natural gas savings. Laundry owners will experience faster throughput, which translates to greater customer turns and profits. These soft-mount units are easy to install on wood floors, upper levels and over basements.
Also, targeted for the four quarter of 2013, Electrolux will introduce new technology that allows soft-mount washers to extract at 500-G force, meaning faster service and greater savings in water and energy.
ESD
Today’s laundry customers are looking for ease and convenience when it comes to doing their laundry. ESD’s Crosslink product provides the acceptance of credit and debit cards at each machine, while still maintaining the use of coins. In addition, a proprietary loyalty card can also be introduced as a means of payment. This provides the store owner with the ability to promote time-of-day specials, free wash promotions, limited free dry and additional programs that benefit the customers, as well as promote continued loyalty.
The wireless installation and 128-bit SSL encryption provide ease of installation, a high level of security and proven reliability.
The cloud-based reporting provides the laundry owner with real time accountability on all credit and debit card transactions. The optional coin count capability will also afford the operator the ability to obtain actual coin counts and total coin vends on each machine. This allows the owner to operate and manage their store more efficiently.
Hamilton Engineering
The San-O3-tyzer by Hamilton Engineering and Aquawing Ozone Systems is an innovative new system that uses a blend of heat and ozone in every wash cycle, giving store owners – and their customers – peace of mind, knowing that their washers have been completely sanitized during every wash cycle.
Adding ozone to the wash allows for (but does not necessitate) the use of lower temperature water in a hot cycle, which will substantially lower utility bills and reduce the carbon footprint of the store. Additionally, there are San-O3-tyzer models designed to fit in the space of – and function as – a folding table, eliminating the need for a boiler room.
San-O3-tyzer systems come in more than 20 standard sizes that can accommodate up to 4,000 pounds of hourly wash capacity. Every San-O3-tyzer is factory-assembled, wired and tested for “plug and play” installation and startup.
Hamilton Engineering offers a full range of water heating products, from their low-cost line of copper-fin, 81 percent efficient water heaters up to the EVO at 99.8 percent efficiency.
Heartland Payment Systems
Heartland Payment Systems has launched the latest version of its WaveRider Laundry System, a wireless payments and account management solution that gives laundry service providers a secure method of accepting credit and debit card payments.
Similar to a card reader at a gas pump, WaveRider card readers attach to washing machines and dryers, providing a secure payment process for consumers using any major credit or debit card. WaveRider not only eliminates coins and reliance on closed-loop laundry cards, it removes cash collection procedures for laundry service providers.
Incorporating Payment Card Industry compliance standards that protect payment card data, the newest version of WaveRider adds a series of enhancements for both service providers and consumers. Providers now have online Test-Vend card management tools that allow technicians to start laundry machines for troubleshooting and problem diagnosis. Providers can also track card usage and add or delete cards as necessary. Additionally, providers can perform remote software updates, eliminating the need to visit laundry rooms to install new features.
For consumers, WaveRider is optimized for mobile devices, providing smart phone functionality that enables users to view the status of washers and dryers before visiting a laundry facility. It also lets them receive text alerts when their laundry cycles are complete. For college students using Heartland’s Campus OneCard system, WaveRider also accepts OneCard transactions.
WaveRider streamlines workflow for laundry operators, allowing them to remotely manage multiple facilities through a secure Web-based account management portal. Laundry operators can review revenue generated at a property and adjust or change prices. They can also minimize downtime and potential loss of revenue by receiving real-time alerts the moment a machine breaks down. The system also supports coin and card operation on the same machine.
“We’re seeing a tremendous interest in WaveRider because consumers want to use their debit or credit cards to pay for common purchases such as laundry, and laundry service providers need to reduce the amount of driving to collect quarters from machines, especially with gas at nearly $4 per gallon,” said Ron Farmer, executive director of campus solutions and micropayments for Heartland.
High Mark Manufacturing
High Mark Manufacturing Inc. introduces its latest innovative product: a laundry service center (bulkhead) with an instant water heater inside.
Most modern day self-serve laundry facilities – like those of the past – keep a big water heater and even bigger water storage tank in a back room to provide hot water, reducing available space for washers and dryers as well as requiring additional funds to build and operate the facility.
“What we’ve done is eliminated all that and brought the water heater to the bulkhead,” said High Mark owner Pete Valconesi.
Not only does having the water heater in the bulkhead do away with the extra room, water heater and storage tank, but also gone is the need for a second water line, because the cold feed to the bulkhead supplies both the heated and the cold water lines to the washers, according to High Mark. The instant water heater also guarantees customers will get a washer full of heated water when they pay for it – whether it’s the first or last load of the day.
The benefits include:
- The end user saves money on construction because it eliminates a lot of in-house plumbing.
- Both the heater and the bulkhead are UL and/or CSA listed.
- It frees up square footage in the laundromat.
- Instant hot water is delivered to machines without having to travel from a far-away utility room.
- The piping in the bulkhead is always hot, so the moment a washer on a hot or warm setting begins to fill, the heater starts producing appropriate-temperature water.
Valconesi says he wanted to ensure that the incorporation of the water heater would not hinder access to the bulkhead so repairs can be made to the washing machines through it – another of High Mark bulkheads’ innovative design features.
In addition, High Mark offers bulkhead wraps that adhere to a laundry’s theme, providing a splash of color or offering possible additional income through advertising.
High Mark sells the bulkhead that is retrofit for the instant water heater, while the laundry distributor purchases the heater from Hamilton Engineering. Because of the close collaboration between Hamilton and High Mark, when the bulkhead and the heater show up at the intended installation site, the laundry distributor has literally a plug-and-play package and assembles the two on site in minutes.
“What we do is boring – we build boxes,” he says. “We build a box full of components. We’ve got to change it up a bit.”
In addition to bulkheads, High Mark manufactures drain troughs and furniture, such as tables, benches and cabinets, used in laundromats and professional laundry centers.
Huebsch
Huebsch offers owners the Galaxy 600 control, which gives them all of the tools needed to effectively manage their self-service laundry.
Multi-level pricing enables store owners to increase profitability, while time-of-day pricing helps operators increase turns during slow times, ultimately assisting in managing the business. When combined with a card payment system, the control allows customers to ease into vend increases pennies at a time, helping to eliminating sticker shock.
Extra wash and rinse options help store owners enhance profitability. Customers can tailor wash cycles for an additional price, allowing store owners to generate more revenue.
Owners can quickly retrieve machine data on their PDA or laptop with the Galaxy 600. Easy programming and information retrieval gives laundry owners the tools to manage multiple laundromats and maximize profits. With the Galaxy 600, owners also have the power to set water levels to reduce utility expenses. The machine has 30 different water levels to choose from. Savings can reach up to 55 percent compared to older fixed-cycle models, according to Huebsch.
Another way the Galaxy 600 reduces water consumption is with its advanced leak detection. The control notifies staff whenever a leak is detected. When leaks are left undetected, owners can spend thousands of dollars in wasted water fees. With advanced leak detection, owners can make repairs immediately to ensure optimal machine and water use.
The Galaxy 600 is available on the HC-20, HC-30, HC-40, HC-60, HC-80 and HC-125. All parts are covered by the company’s three-year warranty.
Imonex
Imonex has introduced the R72, which can be configured for any combination of any two coins. And, if combining tokens with U.S. or international coins, it will work from a single coin drop to a four coin drop. In addition, Imonex is continuing to produce new products every month for the laundry industry – from new international products to items for all of the manufacturers the company represents.
Imonex, which has also increased the security for its products, now offers custom drops for several different applications, including dollar coins and dollar-valued tokens for self-service laundries.
Maytag Commercial Laundry
Maytag Commercial Laundry gives more sizing flexibility and energy savings to coin laundry operators with Energy Advantage Rigid Mount Frontload Washers with the TurboWash System. Store owners can develop the perfect machine configuration mix to fit customer capacity needs. This comprehensive line includes seven models in the following capacities: 18-, 25-, 30-, 40-, 50-, 60- and 80- pounds.
The innovative TurboWash System allows for all models of the rigid-mount washers to deliver impressive cleaning power – along with the potential to cut store owners’ water use by more than 60 percent, according to Maytag. The company has installed feature upgrades on the complete line of rigid-mount frontload washers that include advanced controls with cycle and pricing options, full opening door design, extraction speed increases and water temperature control options. With upgraded cycle options such as Super, Deluxe and Ultimate, store owners can increase revenue while their customers enjoy cleaning choices. Owners can easily adjust water levels and temperatures to control energy costs.
All Maytag Commercial Laundry Energy Advantage Rigid Mount Frontload Washers come standard with the exclusive TurboWash System, which allows for savings on energy costs. The baffles deliver water directly where it’s needed for complete saturation with less water, while the computer-controlled TurboWash System tumble patterns continuously turn laundry through the wash cycle.
National Combustion Co.
National Combustion Co., Inc. (NATCO) has released its new NATSTAK series of water heaters. NATSTAKS are fully enclosed and integrated combinations of a Fire Coil 85-style water heater mounted over an 80-gallon storage tank. The heater and pump are pre-piped with an internal circulating pump – installers make only cold water inlet, hot water outlet and (natural or LP) gas connections.
NATSTAK water heaters provide the space savings and convenience of tank-type water heaters, with none of the drawbacks, according to the company. They are sealed combustion, which means that standby losses are extremely low. A comparable 80-gallon tank-style heater can lose more than $1,000 in standby losses annual, NATCO said.
NASTAKs, like Fire Coil 85 water heaters, can be vented through roofs (Category I) or sidewalls (Category III). They can be installed indoors or outdoors. When inlet air is ducted to NATSTAKs, they are isolated from air movement in a laundry caused by driers, cooling systems or exhaust fans. All NATSTAKS are low-NOx.
New NATSTAK models are available at 199, 299 and 399 MBTUs. All heat exchangers are ASME certified. Tanks are available with ASME certification. The New NATSTAK replaces NATCO’s previous NATSTAK and MiniNat models.
Pellerin Milnor Corp.
Pellerin Milnor Corp.’s offers it MCR27E5 washer, which is an ideal choice for most self-service laundries. The 60-pound-capacity washer’s 9.0-cubic-foot cylinder volume allows for oversized loads. The durable stainless steel cabinet design, easy-to-use control and comfortable door handle are designed for continued use.
The MCR27E5 comes with pre-programmed formulas, and each formula can be configured with a different vend price. Financing is available through Milnor Capital.
The PEPCO Table Co.
The PEPCO Table Co., a commercial table manufacturer since 1989, entered the laundry folding table market in 2011. With expertise in steel fabrication and woodworking, the company’s Steel Series and Classic hardwood table frames have independently tested to 3,000 pounds without failing. PEPCO work surfaces are constructed of decorative solid phenolic resin, a first for this market, according to the company. These durable, hypoallergenic folding tables are warranted for 15 years.
The PEPCO Table Co., which manufactures its products and sells directly to the customer, also provides solid wood casework and cabinets, custom bulkheads, countertops, stools, activity center tables and professional interior design assistance.
R&B Wire Products
R&B Wire Products recently introduced its 6-bushel Big Dog wire laundry cart.
“The demand has been higher than expected,” said Frank Rowe, vice president of sales and marketing at R&B Wire. “A significant portion of that demand is coming from the coin laundry side of the market, as well as hotels and commercial laundries.”
The growing popularity of large-capacity machines in self-service laundries has created the need for this cart, as well as R&B’s 4 ½-bushel 200F cart.
“Customers are clearly bringing in larger loads of laundry, and the convenience of the large-capacity carts makes it both convenient and efficient for the store, as opposed to that customer using three or four standard carts and creating a shortage of available carts for other customers,” Rowe added.
The 200H 6-bushel Big Dog cart is available in chrome or vinyl-coated blue or gray baskets. The 200F 4 1/2-bushel model is available in chrome or almond or blue vinyl baskets. Both of these carts are equipped with the company’s proprietary Clean Wheel System, which minimizes lint and debris pickup.
These new carts compliment R&B’s extensive breadth of wire laundry carts.
Rinnai
Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters can help laundry owners save energy, money and space. Rinnai models feature a commercial-grade heat exchanger that ensures durability, performance and a constant supply of hot water in high-frequency applications, such as self-service laundries.
Units can be banked together to ensure peak-demand needs are always met. Rinnai’s EZConnect cable makes joining two units as easy as plugging them in. For laundries with greater hot water needs, up to 25 units can be combined with the multi-unit control system, so they operate seamlessly as a single water source. Built-in redundancy with the multiple units ensures a laundromat never has to close due to a lack of hot water, which can be a costly problem for many laundry owners.
Wall-mounted Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters also save valuable floor space and can be installed on the exterior of a building, which can equate to additional washers and/or dryers inside the facility, ultimately increasing a store owner’s revenue, according to the company.
Installation is easy, and exterior installation requires no vent components, which helps save on construction costs.
Setomatic Systems
Setomatic Systems’ SpyderWash Payment Solution is designed to increase revenue by adding credit/debit card acceptance directly to a laundry owner’s washers and dryers, while still allowing payment by coin or a store’s own proprietary loyalty card. The SpyderWash reader encompasses both RFID and NFC technologies. These are the methods used by growing payment solutions like PayPass, Google Wallet and ISIS, enabling consumers to just tap their credit card or to pay right from their smart phone. In addition, the reader is certified by Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
SpyderWash is web-based, so no computer is needed on site. The system tracks all revenue – coin, credit, debit and loyalty cards. And the company’s Bluetooth wireless system is fully encrypted for security and easy installation. All transactions are batched at the end of the day, keeping fees to a minimum.
Speed Queen
Speed Queen offers the Quantum Gold control, which can help self-service laundry owners gain better control over their stores from anywhere in the world.
As the coin laundry industry continues to evolve, owners need the ability to adapt quickly to fluctuations in operating expenses and customers’ needs. Features that were considered luxuries a few years ago are now essential components of doing business, according to Speed Queen.
The company’s Quantum Gold control gives owners the power to respond instantly to change in order to maximize their store’s profitability. Quantum Gold is networked, allowing both in-store and off-site management capabilities, such as the option to modify vend prices or cycles from the comfort of their own homes or anywhere they have access to a computer.
Operations reports and machine data further assist with management and identifying any potential service problems. And laundry owners can program the control to automatically shut down during a specified time period, which helps ensure that attendants are able to leave as scheduled, eliminating overtime pay.
It also helps reduce conditions that cost store owners money. With advanced water leak and slow drain detection, Quantum Gold provides timely feedback to owners, helping them catch these problems quickly.
In addition, it offers a total of 27 cycle combinations, 30 programmable water levels and customer-centric offerings, such as premium cycle modifiers and a free “Lucky Cycle” for loyal customers. It is also designed to interface with most third-party card readers, including credit and debit readers.
Standard Change-Makers
Standard Change-Makers, Inc. has introduced its newest product – the easyPAY Central Payment System, geared specifically for the coin laundry industry, and allowing customers to start any washer or dryer in a store using coins, bills and credit cards.
With the easyPAY system, one or more payment kiosks are centrally located in the store. Customers simply load their clothes in the washers and dryers, close the machine door and then visit an easyPAY kiosk. The touch screen display guides them through the payment process: they enter the machine numbers they wish to start, and confirm that the doors of the machines are properly closed. The easyPAY Kiosk totals the payment due for all of the machines they wish to start, and then prompts them to pay with coins, bills or credit cards. Once payment has been accepted, the kiosk sends the signal to those machines to start, and any change due back to the customer is dispensed.
Some of the system’s benefits include:
- Accept credit cards via high-speed Internet connection.
- Accept bills and credit cards at a kiosk, which will reduce your coin collections from individual machines. Some easyPAY stores have reduced their collections by 80 percent, according to Standard Change-Makers.
- easyPAY’s redundant coin acceptor will allow customers to start large-capacity frontloaders when the machine’s coin mechanism has been jammed.
- Because most customers prefer to use cash, the systems allows them to keep doing business with you in the manner they are accustomed. However, it also offers the convenience of bill acceptance (a $10 bill in the easyPAY kiosk will start washers and dryers), rather than going to the change machine to get quarters.
- There’s no need for your customers to drop 32 (or more) quarters into your large-capacity frontload washer coin drops.
The easyPAY kiosks are available in a frontload and rearload configuration, which include an electronic coin acceptor, bill acceptor, mag-stripe card swipe, touch screen display and two coin hoppers. The system can also include a card-only terminal that consists of a stainless steel enclosure, touch screen display and mag stripe card swipe.
U.S. Capital Corp.
U.S. Capital Corp. is now giving self-service laundry owners and new investors a 5.99% fixed interest rate finance offering to complement the purchase of new Maytag commercial washers and dryers, with terms up to 96 months. Laundry operators can also lock in this fixed rate offering by investing in a Maytag Equipped Laundry, the manufacturer’s new branded store program.
In addition, U.S. Capital, which was founded in 1989, has made its “5-5-5” Jackpot Finance Offering available to laundry owners.
Vend-Rite Manufacturing Co.
Vend-Rite Manufacturing’s Vision line can help you provide your customers with all of the products they want, give your attendants freedom from the counter, and provide your business with inventory accountability and security.
You can offer drinks and snacks out of the same machine, and chill as much or as little of the vender as the products you sell require. If you sell more snacks in the winter, you can change the configuration of the machine to meets your customers’ needs.
All of the venders feature a unique conveyor delivery system that maximizes product capacity. This system has the ability to vend items as small as a business card, up to as large as a 75-ounce bottle of detergent. And, unlike vending machines that drop products up to four feet, the Vision vender delivers products by an elevator to a convenient collection area.
The black interior and LED lighting system are designed to help promote and enhance the “retail” advertising packaging colors.
The MDB wiring platform provides for multiple payment systems – coins, bills or card technology. The five-tube coin mechanism will accept nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar coins, while the multi-directional bill acceptor will accept $1, $5 and $10 bills.
Features include continuous system check and self-diagnostics, product dating, refrigeration check, accountability and sales data. The illuminated front and hours of operation can be programmed, as well as an advertising panel on the delivery elevator. Also, the modular design of the pre-wired shelves, motor assemblies and cabinet configuration offer great flexibility.
The units feature Vend-Rite’s bubble brand artwork on the fronts. Side panel graphics are optional. All of the units are covered by the company’s Satisfaction Guaranteed program.
New this year is the TAOS Vision, which is controlled by a credit-accepting unit that can operate up to four vending units. The TAOS can be ordered with or without refrigeration.
WashCard Systems
With WashCard, laundry owners can add wireless credit card acceptance to as few or as many washers and dryers in their facilities as you choose, without having to give up coin acceptance. WashCard customers commonly add individual wireless readers to select large washers and dryers to start, and then add additional readers to their other equipment over time.
The company’s new Payment Kiosk product now enables laundromat operators a cost-effective hardware solution to add a card-payment option to large banks of washers and dryers.
Both of these products can be used interchangeably to create a purchasing plan that allows owners to grow their acceptance of credit cards (or their own private label prepaid cards) over time. Laundry owners can move at their own pace with this unit; there is no minimum number of machines required to get started with this product.
Some of the benefits to laundry owners include increased convenience for customers, easier collections on larger machines, increased average dollar per vend on multi-price washers and increased sales of dry time.
Whirlpool
Whirlpool Commercial Laundry has introduced its frontload washer and dryer pair for self-service laundry owners.
“Our Whirlpool Commercial Laundry washer and dryer pair is an affordable frontload choice that offers utility savings and the quality performance users have come to expect from Whirlpool brand,” said Bob English, general manager of global commercial laundry at Whirlpool Corporation.
The high-efficiency commercial washer offers significant utility savings as a result of its Energy Star and CEE Tier II qualifications. Ideal for handling family-sized laundry loads, the 3.2-cubic-foot washer offers a combination of nine cycle options, and its high-speed spin – 1,000 RPMs – provides dryer laundry, therefore reducing dry time. Additionally, the washer’s door design features a 180-degree heavy-duty hinge, allowing easier access when loading and unloading laundry.
The extra-large capacity dryers are equipped with a blower system to increase air velocity, energy efficiency and heating element life. The front-serviceable dryers allow four-way venting up to 100 feet, with three elbows and one angled hood for versatility. They also include a large lint screen, an extra-large 6.7 cubic-foot capacity drum and a side-swing reversible door.
The washer and dryer both feature user-friendly microprocessor controls, which display the time remaining and time-of-day pricing. The large-capacity meter case accepts a wide range of payment options, including card, coin slide and coin drop. In addition, the product can be set up for on-premises, non-payment use.
The pair comes standard with the Whirlpool Commercial Laundry three-year limited parts warranty.
