On June 19 – the day prior to the start of Clean Show 2019 – the LaundryCares Foundation will hold a free laundry day in the show’s host city of New Orleans. This event, which will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., will take place at two locations simultaneously within the Crescent City:
• Laundromat Zone, 4500 Old Gentilly Road
• Wash World, 1525 Elysian Fields Avenue
In addition to free laundry services and complimentary detergent, this event will feature free food and fun activities for children and adults alike. And, given the fact that this event will take place on the eve of the industry’s largest convention and trade show in the U.S., several laundry owners, distributors and manufacturers’ representatives are sure to volunteer to help out during this event.
What’s more, a new Family Read, Play & Learn Space will be installed in each of the two host laundry businesses. These literacy spaces provide books, as well as a comfortable and engaging setting designed to foster opportunities for children to read and learn while the family laundry is being done. Similar learning spaces have been launched in stores across the country through the Laundry Literacy Coalition – a partnership among Libraries Without Borders, Too Small to Fail and the LaundryCares Foundation.
Millions of families in underserved communities visit vended laundries each week to fulfill the need for clean clothes. For many of these families, meeting this most basic need often can be a challenge. With this in mind, the owners of Laundromat Zone and Wash World, in conjunction with the LaundryCares Foundation, are excited and honored to offer a day of free laundry services for those in their neighborhoods. Guests may bring an unlimited amount of laundry to the event and will receive free laundry products to help clean their clothes.
While the guests do their laundry, children will be safely entertained with several supervised activities, including reading, face-painting and more. Also, free children’s books will be distributed to the families present at this event.
“We are very excited to bring our national event back to the town that inspired the creation of the LaundryCares Foundation and to where we held our very first LaundryCares event,” noted LaundryCares Chairman Jeff Gardner.
The LaundryCares Foundation is dedicated to helping laundry owners provide services through their stores, such as free laundry days and childhood literacy resources for families in underserved communities.
